Terms of Service

Last updated: Fev 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TaxPilot at www.taxpilot.diy ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and TaxPilot ("we", "us", "our"). Please read them carefully.

2. Service Description

TaxPilot is a browser-based UK tax optimisation calculator. It analyses your salary, pension contributions, childcare arrangements, and benefits to identify potential tax savings.

Important — TaxPilot is NOT:

  • Regulated financial advice
  • Professional tax advice or accounting services
  • A substitute for consultation with a qualified tax advisor, independent financial advisor (IFA), or accountant

TaxPilot is an informational tool designed to help you explore tax optimisation strategies. You should always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions based on TaxPilot's output. The Service supports UK tax years 2024/25 through 2028/29 (projected).

3. Accounts

  • To use certain features, you must create an account using a valid email address.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
  • Each person may only create and maintain one account.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account. Accounts created with false or misleading information may be suspended or terminated.

Please notify us immediately at support@taxpilot.diy if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

4. Free & Pro Tiers

TaxPilot offers two service tiers:

Free Tier

  • Access to the core tax optimisation calculator
  • AI Tax Advisor with approximately 20 queries per month
  • Basic tax savings analysis

Pro Tier — £69/year

  • Everything in Free, plus:
  • AI Tax Advisor with approximately 200 queries per month
  • Advanced multi-year projections
  • Full childcare and benefits analysis
  • Priority support

Pro is a one-time annual payment (not a recurring subscription). Features and usage limits are subject to change; we will notify existing users of any material changes.

5. Payments & Refunds

  • All payments are processed securely by Stripe. TaxPilot does not store your card details.
  • The Pro tier costs £69 per year as a one-time annual payment. There is no automatic renewal.
  • Prices are in British Pounds (GBP) and are inclusive of any applicable VAT.

Refunds

If you are not satisfied with TaxPilot Pro, you may request a refund by contacting support@taxpilot.diy. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and, if approved, processed via Stripe to your original payment method.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use TaxPilot only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the Service for anything other than personal UK tax planning.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data or content from the Service.
  • Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the Service or its output.
  • Use the Service to provide commercial tax advisory services to third parties without our prior written permission.
  • Abuse the AI Tax Advisor — including attempting prompt injection, using it for non-tax purposes, or attempting to circumvent usage limits.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or connected networks.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Please read this section carefully

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

In particular:

  • Tax calculations are based on published HMRC rates and rules, but may contain errors or inaccuracies. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any calculation.
  • UK tax laws and rates change regularly. TaxPilot's rates may be updated with a delay following official changes.
  • AI Tax Advisor responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. AI responses should not be treated as professional advice.
  • We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

TaxPilot is not responsible for any financial decisions you make based on the Service's output. Always verify results with a qualified tax professional.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • TaxPilot's total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to TaxPilot in the 12 months preceding the claim (£69 for Pro users, or £0 for Free users).
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
  • We shall not be liable for any losses arising from your reliance on tax calculations, AI Advisor responses, or any other output of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, design, code, and materials that form part of the Service are owned by TaxPilot or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain full ownership of any personal data you input into the Service. We do not claim any ownership rights over your tax calculation inputs or personal information.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

10. Termination

  • By you: You can delete your account at any time by contacting support@taxpilot.diy. Your tax calculation data (stored in localStorage) is under your control and is not affected by account deletion.
  • By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service or other users.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any server-side data associated with your account (email, subscription status) will be deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. Your localStorage data remains on your device and is unaffected.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any legal proceedings relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with us, we encourage you to first contact us at support@taxpilot.diy so we can try to resolve the matter informally. We will make reasonable efforts to address your concern promptly.

If we are unable to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days, either party may pursue the matter through the courts of England and Wales.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
